How do I fix a fatal error in MS Reader?

Some people have reported that the following error message appears when they start MS Reader on their Pocket PC:

Application eBook.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

This error is most likely caused when the Audible Player is installed on a Pocket PC. Audible Player should not be installed on any Pocket PC. The player is already integrated with MS Reader, and to play Audible content all you need to do is copy the file to the My Documents folder on the device.

Install the Audible Manager that came with your device to manage Audible Content that you download from Audible's web site.
